Remember how excited the Kardashian sisters were when Kim Kardashian announced her engagement to Kris Humphries? As it turns out, Kourtney Kardashian is not just excited -- she's relieved that Kim's wedding will take the heat off her and longtime boyfriend Scott Disick.
"Kim getting engaged definitely bought me some time, so I don't have to go out and get married right now," Kim's older sis tells E! Online. "I was at a wedding recently... I hate weddings!"
Although Kourtney, 32, and Scott, 28, have 17-month-old son Mason together, they're happy to live under the same roof as an unmarried family -- at least, for now.
"I think that if it's not broke don't fix it," Disick said to People after Kim, 30, announced her engagement. "We couldn't be happier."
The rest of the family seems divided over whether Kourtney and Scott should rush to the altar. Kourtney admits that she recently got a text message from her grandmother (grandma texts?!) asking if she was ready to get married yet. But youngest sister Khloe, 26, who married Lamar Odom in 2009, says she respects Kourtney's patience.
"I love that she doesn't feel pressured to get married, because I think marriage is a very serious thing and I don't think anyone should just jump into it," Khloe tells E! Online. "And if you are not ready, you are not ready."
As viewers of Keeping Up With the Kardashians are well aware, Scott and Kourtney may still have some issues to work out. Disick's drinking and violent episodes, which were on full display in a total meltdown in Miami last June, are still a concern to Kourtney (with good reason). After a period of abstaining from alcohol, he's now started drinking again in moderation.
"He is trying to drink responsibly, so we'll see how that goes," Kourtney says.
She also admits that she still worries what Scott does when he goes out without her. As for Scott, he has some issues with Kourtney's... interior design choices?
"It's not so much the outdoors, but the indoors, with the crazy table and all the colors," he told People of his girlfriend's decorating obsession. "She's got some new room with checkered carpeting, checkered benches, checkered coffee tables. There are like 90 different patterns in one. It's kind of creepy."
Is it too much to hope that Scott will learn to treat Kourtney with a little more respect before he pops the question? Maybe it will happen in season 6 of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, which premieres next Sunday on E!.
